Washington County Department of Human Services sponsors WashingtonKnows, an Internet-based information and referral resource for residents and human service providers.  It was created to link people needing help or information with the organizations that might offer assistance.  WashingtonKnows is free and confidential.

 
In all communities, finding the appropriate services can be difficult. The goal of WashingtonKnows is to remove those barriers and link people with the appropriate information and resources.

 
WashingtonKnows offers a computerized database of information about available human services in Washington County. This database supports local agencies in sharing information about available programs and services in order to promote efficient coordination of services and encourage collaboration among service providers.
 
WashingtonKnows provides human service organizations and the public with contact information, hours of operation, and a general description of services provided by Washington County human services providers.  It establishes a centralized information clearinghouse that enables users to find information and resources at their convenience.  
 

WashingtonKnows allows resource information to be continuously updated to ensure that it is current and meets the ever-changing needs of users. The online resource directory will allow local human service providers to easily add and edit information.  Users can create customized resource directories and download them into Microsoft Word format for a variety of purposes which allows users to edit the information and share it with others for a variety of purposes, including assessment, planning, marketing, information and referral, etc.  
 

People seeking information about services available in the county can use the online resource directory to find appropriate services or review information about local agencies. In addition, the interactive database provides valuable information to assist with mapping where services are located; identifying which agency provides what types of services, and building a more effective and efficient human services system.
